Getting Here

Koh Tao, or Turtle Island, is a small tropical island in the Gulf of Thailand approximately 2 hours by boat from the island of Koh Samui and also the town of Chumphon on the mainland.

The island is rich in vegetation and is surrounded by white sandy beaches and turquoise seas. The enchanting ambience of the island will take just moments to seduce even the most discerning of our guests.

There are several ways to get to Koh Tao. If you require any help with travel, please contact us at iwanttostay@theplacekohtao.com.

By boat

Koh Tao is an island, so everyone arrives by boat. There are 4 express boats a day arriving from the island of Koh Samui and 2 from Chumphon on the mainland. The journey from both Samui and Chumphon takes about 2 hours. Visit the Lomprayah or Seatran Discovery websites for more information.

There are also slower night boats that leave from the mainland ports of Chumphon and Suratthani at around 10pm and arrive on Koh Tao early the following morning.

By plane

There are frequent daily flights from Bangkok to Koh Samui by Bangkok Airways and Thai Airways. There is also a twice-daily flight from Bangkok to Chumphon with Nokair as well as flights to Surathani with both Nokair and Airasia. It is easy to get a connecting boat from both these places.

By train

There is a train that runs from Bangkok through Chumphon down to Suratthani. For information visit ThailandByTrain

By bus

The least expensive option is to get the twice daily VIP coach from Bangkok to Chumphon then connecting boat to Koh Tao. Visit the Lomprayah website for more information.

Whichever mode of transport you use to get to Koh Tao, we will meet you at the pier and taxi you to your boutique villa – whatever time of day or night you arrive.
